Michael has been involved in the Cards and Banking business in emerging markets for over 15 years. He has worked and lived in Russia for over eight years, and has managed businesses in many of the markets in Central & Eastern Europe, Southern Europe and Africa.
He is currently the Managing Director and founder of “Ronoc Financial Solutions” a boutique Consulting and Investment Company focusing on emerging economies which was setup in July 2007.
Michael moved to Russia in 2003 as the founding CEO of Renaissance Credit where he established the third largest Consumer Finance bank in Russia. A green field operation he successfully setup the Renaissance Credit business in Russia, Ukraine and a Joint Venture with IKEA. He established lending operations for Sales Finance, Auto Lending, Personal Loans and Credit Cards in over sixty regions across Russia.
Prior to joining Renaissance Credit he had an extensive and successful career with American Express. He joined the company in Ireland in 1988 and worked in their Card and Travel business before moving to Russia in 1993. He spent four years in Russia establishing the AMEX business across the former Soviet Union. He moved to the UK in 1996 first as Director for a portfolio of Franchise Markets and then as Vice President for the AMEX Franchise business in EMEA. He also had responsibility for the International Dollar in Europe and launched the International Euro Card in 2002.
